Paula Viitanen, is an interdisciplinary artist and collaborator. She thrives in slow process-based collaborations that focus on devising. In her practice she combines installation design, photography, carpentry and technical direction.
She grew up in Finland surrounded by small bodies of water that didn’t ebb and flow, observing and capturing the world through her camera.
Since relocating to the unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations on 2014, she has given into the struggle to attempt to relate to the natural oscillation of the Pacific Ocean and the low tides it generates.
She holds a degree in Industrial Joinery, and a BFA in Theatre: Production and Design.
