Facilitator Bios

Jay Bagasbas (they/them) is a well seasoned live sound tech in the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. With a decade’s worth of experience, they enjoy nerding about sound/live shows and touring for anyone who’d love to listen. Their gigs range from corporate AV, to venues and festivals, to shows in public parks and libraries. As the Tech Director for Vines Art Festival, they serve their communities the way they know best thru sound and stage.

Heather Lamoureux lives on Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh territories, where she is the Artistic Director at Vines Art Society. Heather is committed to her responsibility to nurture artists, imagine and co-create creative projects, and pull people together. Her work is shaped by her training in somatic therapy, involvement in land-based community projects, gardening, supporting resistance, sovereignty, and water protection work, and many generous stories and chats. In the past, she has worked for Raven Spirit Dance, PuSh International Arts Festival, the Firehall Arts Centre, and facilitated movement classes for elders and youth. She loves to garden, hang out by a river, and eat good food.

Accessibility

  • Masks are optional but encouraged. Please wear a mask during our programming if you are feeling at-risk of illness or have been around anyone who has been sick. Many people in our communities (including Vines staff!) are immunocompromised. We’ll be providing masks at every session.  Check this infographic out for a refresher on mask use wise practices. We will have hand sanitizer available.
  • We’ll have light snacks available, tea, and water. Please let us know if you have any allergies in the form.
  • We will have stim toys, colouring and writing tools available. Please make use of them whenever you want.
  • This is a space where we want to create safety for folks who experience involuntary movement and noise making. We will not ask you to stay quiet or still. We ask all participants to not ask that of anyone either.
